The Toyota 4Runner is powered by a 4.0-liter V-6 engine that produces 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and the power is sent to a part-time 4WD system and a full-time 4WD system in the higher trims. The 4Runner manages to offer a balanced performance output both on-road and off-road. The varying configurations help in offering customers to choose based on their requirements, from more on-road on-road-oriented models like the Limited trim to off-road performance models like the TRD Off-Road and the TRD Pro trims.
